BENNACHIE PATHS PROJECT

On behalf of the Bailies of Bennachie and all future users of the hill, thank you for your generosity

Thank you for offering to donate to our initiative to reconstruct a path to Mither Tap.  The section in question is from the crossroads next to Shepherd’s Lodge to the treeline up the face of Mither Tap. This is approximately 1000m in length. This path has suffered heavy erosion due to footfall and mountain bike use.

Path 1

Unfortunately, the landowner, Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS), are unable to fund this work and have approached the Bailes for their assistance.  At their recommendation, we have engaged with Outdoor Access Trust Scotland (OATS) to provide concept design, cost estimating and project management services for us. They have a successful track record in overseeing path construction of FLS land elsewhere in Scotland.

Path 2

The current cost estimate is over £100,000. A significant part of this cost is the need for helicopters to drop in materials due to the inaccessibility of parts of the path. The path will cost approximately £100/metre to repair.  All Donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.

Has the hill been a big part in yours or a loved one’s life?  Commemorate their love for Bennachie in a donation in their honour.  Get their name on our register of donors. We are also offering opportunities for enhanced donations. A small gift will be awarded for these generous donations.
