Two prestigious awards in 2023 and 2024 have been presented to the Bailies of Bennachie.
In November 2024, the Bailies of Bennachie were delighted to be awarded with the King's Award for Voluntary Service, the equivalent of the MBE for voluntary service organisations, following on from the NatureScot Award for Community Iniative in 2023.

The King's Award fpr Voluntary Service was awarded in November 2024, and presented in person from the Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, the King’s representative in Aberdeenshire, Sandy Manson at a lunch held for invited volunteers and trustees in March 2025.
He gave a short speech, and included:
Fewer occasions give me greater pleasure than when I present the King’s Award for Voluntary Service which is referred to as the M.B.E. of the voluntary service groups.

What Bailies of Bennachie does, engaging with so many volunteers in such a sustainable and impactful way is wonderful. That impact is immeasurable, with the good it brings in education, engagement, history, culture, flora and fauna, and wellbeing, giving positive impact on countless people. The volunteers are groups of people who His Majesty wants to celebrate because you do this for no personal reward, but just because it’s the right thing to do and your own personal satisfaction. Nurturing, treasuring, maintaining, enhancing and protecting one of the most iconic spots in Aberdeenshire.
Peter Stock, Chair of the Bailies of Bennachie, was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the organisation. A certificate, signed by King Charles III, was presented along with a glass block with the King’s Award logo etched inside.

2023 NatureScot Community Initiative Award
Bailies of Bennachie won the Community Initiative Award in November 2023, as part of the annual Nature of Scotland awards, from conservation projects underway across Scotland. This award was voted for by the public, so especially poignant to win in the 50th Anniversary year.
The award was presented by zoologist, TV presenter and RSPB Ambassador Megan McCubbin and TV presenter and nature enthusiast JJ Chalmers.
