(more) Fun & Learning Volunteers Required

Back to All News

Recently, the Bailies of Bennachie had a successful campaign for the Fun & Learning team, not only getting some dedicated volunteers, but also a Trustee in Anne Watson with the responsibility for this important area of our work.

Now that this team is up and running, along with the imminent launch of the updated Junior website to join the main Bailies of Bennachie website, we would like to augment the current members with additional volunteers who have a keen interest in giving young people the skills, knowledge and confidence to be the voice of the hill for future generations.

We are looking for enthusiastic people who have an interest sharing their enthusiasm for Bennachie and, using their skills to help others, particularly young people, expand their knowledge of the natural world through accessing the wealth of resources presented by the Bennachie range.   Whether you are a parent or grandparent, an education professional, or someone who simply has a passion for sharing their love of nature and the outdoors with others, we’d love you to hear from you.

Volunteering means you can give as much time as you can afford.  We are looking for people with a range of skills.  For example, do you have experience of outdoor learning or learning through play which could be used to develop resources to engage families visiting Bennachie?  Could your IT skills help boost our use of social media platforms to engage young people?  Have you an interest in local history which you would like to share with young learners to enhance their sense of belonging to the local area?   Are you currently a teacher in a local school who could see the benefit of collaborating with the Bailies of Bennachie to develop learning opportunities for young people?

This is an exciting time for the Fun & Learning Team, as we are about to launch our refreshed and updated website for young people.  We are keen to keep this resource current, engaging and relevant, and the backing of local volunteers will be crucial in helping us to do this.  We are also hoping to develop links with local schools and other groups who already promote outdoor learning. Having a group of enthusiastic volunteers to support with this would help to spread awareness of the work of the Bailies of Bennachie, and the importance of caring for our local environment.

Whatever your skill, talent, interest or background, we’d love to hear from you and welcome you to our Team. If you think you could help us, in whatever small way, please get in touch for further information.   Contact info@bailiesofbennachie.co.uk in the first instance.
