Environmental Recording & Analysis
All science relies on data. One of our founders, James MacKay, had undertaken environmental research on the hill. His research has been a valuable source and inspires us to research the hill further.

Modern day is no different. In the last decade, we installed and monitored a series of wildlife cameras at various locations. These revealed some important species such as Scottish Wildcats on the hill. These cameras are obsolete and, with land-owners’ permission and cooperation, they are being replaced by a modern set of cameras.
For the last few years, the Bailies have been collecting data which we now contribute to the North East Scotland Biological Records Centre. Recently, we have used teams of Bailies volunteers to undertake detailed surveys.
The data we are collecting will soon be extracted from North East Scotland Biological Research Centre (NESBReC) and form the bases for decision making in our Environmental Strategy.
